Shannon Fennell is one of the best known and respected face painters in the world!
Her list of awards include: Best Costume at the 2007 UK Face & Body Painting Convention, second place at the 2007 US Body Painting Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico, winner of the 2006 Fantasy Worldwide Face Painting Competition in Putte, Belgium, voted Top Face Painter in North America in January 2006, named International Face Painter of the Year in 2005, and Queen of the Hill in Body Painting in July 2005 amongst many others.
Shannon has over 12 years experience as a professional make-up artist, specializing in face painting, theatrical make-up, special effects and more. Her interest in make-up and character creation however goes back to childhood and many costume contests won! She received a Diploma in Make-Up Artistry, with honours, from the Blanche Macdonald Institute in Vancouver, as well as training in Hollywood and around the world. Shannon has credits in film, television and theatre make-up as well as in the face and body painting specialization.
In 2007 Shannon was put under contract by Snazaroo USA Inc. to develop a book for beginning face painters of step-by-step designs for faces using only Snazaroo brand products. Your Face or Mine was released in November 2007 and is available right here from Face Painting Products! She also has been a regular contributor to various industry publications over the years.
Shannon lives in Grande Prairie, in northern Alberta, Canada and is a frequent visitor to the UK shores and travels to competitions around the world. Many UK painters have had the pleasure of meeting Shannon at UK Conferences and Conventions. Shannon has also toured the South West and North West of the UK in 2007 doing a face painting workshop tour.
Shannon has presented at the 2004 FABAI Convention in San Francisco, USA, the UK Face & Body Painting Conventions in 2006 and 2007, the FACE Conference in 2008, as well as teaching and conduction workshops on various aspects of make-up application and design for all levels.
Shannon Fennell designed and painted Bex Marshall, roots'n'blues singer, in Plymouth, UK in November 2007. Bex Marshall was so impressed with her bodypainting that this has been used on her second album released in May 2008 entitled Kitchen Table. Find out more about Bex here. Shannon presented this bodypainting as part of her UK Bodypainting workshop, which ended up being fully hands on to paint Bex - A truly marvellous experience to have hands on training along with the opportunity to paint such a brilliant and talented singer.
